Also, the reason for all the Latin incantations for the necromantic spells were because necromancy was actually pretty "popular" in ancient Rome. It was mostly used by priests of Roman gods to divine the future via animal sacrifice and intestinal readings.

I doubt the writers thought of that. Most of the spells in the books were in Latin, too. It just sounds better to chant something in a language nobody understands but everybody still recognizes.
