See, they already lose me when they say the prequels are "poorly structured movies, with crumby internal plots", because I just don't see that.
I am fine with complaints about JarJar, midichlorians, wooden acting by Christensen, lousy love scene dialogs. That's it. Every complaint beyond that is a load of bull. Palpatine's plot to take over and make Anakin his lap dog is smart and very cleverly spread over the three films. Just as an example. This list adds five more. People's expectations were over the top and based on films they watched as kids. The prequels are near-perfect eye candy entertainment with outstanding effects and wonderful world-building. That's all I expected.
The old films are such huge parts of my childhood, youth and life even up until now that I can't find a single bad thing to say about them.
Maybe I replied a little too seriously, but it was good to get that off my chest, considering how often the prequels and me are topic on our site.

I have all six, and when I honestly don't enjoy the prequels as much. Overall I'd give them a 6, and the originals an 8.
My biggest gripe with the prequels is the casting of Vader. I think Christensen was a horrible casting choice. They were so consumed on finding someone good-looking that they totally failed to find someone who could portray a subtle darker side, and certainly someone who could later come across as intimidating.
There is also no doubt that not even professional actors can pull off heartfelt acting in front of a greens screen. There's just too much nothingness there for them to get into it, and it really shows.
I think the effects were superb, but I've often thought that effects make a crap movie if they are backed up with nothing else. I've often enjoyed the effects in certain Star Trek series and movies, but I often get fascinated by the dialogue, and this is really lacking in these movies, and often deserves to be mocked. I think Revenge of the Sith is by far the best of the three, followed by 1 and then 2 distantly.
Of course, as a Star Wars fan I could go on, especially about issues related to the core of the series. For instance, the annihilation of the Jedi is one of the most serious aspects of the series, and yet Lucas saw fit to make it into a scene riddled with bad jokes at the end of Attack of the Clones. And it wasn't unique - we had to endure bad humour by Jar-Jar binks all the while being shifted to a serious fight between Obi-Wan/Qui-Gonn and Darth Maul. That never happened in the original series, and rightly so. You can't throw the audience around between levity and despair and expect them to get into it.
I don't think the prequels deserve to be ripped to pieces but I don't think they're noteworthy. As a whole, I regret that they were added to the Star Wars timeline.
