Wow, we were not watching the same show at all.

It felt too much like CSI with cheesy superpowers. I found myself doing anything but watching after the dude jumped off the building. What I saw was predictable and boring. I quit watching and deleted it from my DVR before it was over. If I were wanting a CSI type of show I would watch CSI or NCIS. The superpowers didn't add much IMHO. It's all just a reason for SyFy say they are still interested in science fiction.
Yeah, there was a CSI element to it - but it was a support group playing CSI out of necessity, not professionals just doing their jobs.
I think the show did a good job both in the selection of the superpowers and how the characters used them. The effect for Gary's power is great, and I liked how Cameron was stopped from running away not by super-strong Bill, but by persuasive Nina. The characters are realistic; they have flaws and don't all get along.
In the realm of "shows about people with abilities," this is doing much better than Heroes or No Ordinary Family.

I thought it was a solid opener. Will definitely keep watching it along with Eureka and Warehouse 13 *NM*

It had quite a few plot holes...

I don't think "characters not acting in the best possible way" qualifies as a plot hole.
