How did I miss this?

Clearly I have been way too busy this year.

I've seen him in costume in an interview. I would never have guessed it was him without the super saying so!

Of course it's gonna be the same good and bad thing as in all the previous Potter flicks: it's great to have such good actors in the minor parts, but then it also makes you wish you'd see them a lot more (but from the clips, it looks like they found ways to give Rickman in particular much more screentime than he has in the books by showing him in scenes that happen mostly off-screen in the books)...

On a related note, in the clip I've seen of Helena B. Carter playing Hermione disguised as Bellatrix, you'd just swear it's Emma Watson herself, she's that good. I'm dying to see the whole sequence now, it's gonna be hilarious (might well be the best scene of the movie, but then I'm a huge fan of Carter in over the top parts like this).

I know! I had that problem a lot in the last film, as well -- they were very good at picking up on the traits of the kids (although I suppose they aren't kids anymore).

No, I guessed they're not. Some scenes in the last 2 movies make me think the young actors would probably have been more interesting on-sceen had they kept more the focus of Rowling on character moments, they had precious few good character scenes left in the movie scripts, but OTOH I've made my peace with the Potter flicks and enjoy them for what they are (though I'd still wish someone as conservative, by-the-book old Hollywood and unimaginative as Columbus wasn't hired to establish the franchise - he's made bad calls right from the start that the rest of the movies had to leave with, like making Dumbledore so drab - a proper wise wizard, getting rid of almost all the "improper" stuff (cutting out a character like Peeves is typical of that, and little touches like Trelawney's drinking...). The movies are too "proper", sanitized and too "serious" (to the point of ridicule in places). What I miss most from them is how Rowling was able to make it very English, but in an inconventional, funny and often harmlessly "improper" way The world of the movies is too conventional and saniitzed in comparison to the books. But for the most part they're good popcorn action flicks, though.
