My first thought as well. Combined with those acid protection suits really making them look like sontarans. I cannot imagine that is a coincidence.

True. He was not properly replicated through use of the machinery, so there is no need for him to be a replicate Time Lord per se. But I hope he has enough of the Doctor's mind to be sensible about it all. Although, having the Doctor's mind without a functioning Tardis to run away with might be more of a curse than anything else.
I was wondering about that - there is a lot more of the Doctor's mind than a normal person, so would all of it come through and can the new body handle it?
