I didn't think the first season was intriguing enough - way too much interpersonal drama for me. Regardless of genre, I don't like shows that frequently fill up the hour with personal fights and who's sleeping with whom.
I can understand that, but on the other hand when Star Trek: Voyager was on (apples to oranges I know, but follow me please) I remember being pissed off that the whole "two opposite crews working together" thing was pretty much swept under the rug. There was no real conflict with any of the characters except on a few rare occasions. I loved that it took time for the people on Destiny to get to know each other and learn to trust their crewmates.
And I think Scifi hasn't done it any favors.
It certainly hasn't IMO. There's rarely any advertisements that I've seen. I watch the occasional marathon of good shows when they have them and I have the time, but I only see one or two advertisements a week and when they keep changing times and days (Friday to Tuesday was a HORRIBLE decision IMHO) it's hard for casual viewers to keep up with the show.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

Anyone been watching the last of Stargate Universe?

I agree that it wasn't really the usual campy SG show, but that's why I liked it... *NM*
