What's really funny is that when I introduce someone to the show, I tend to skip around the first season a little bit. I only started watching it, when it aired, around the 9th episode or so. I could see the potential, even though some of those first episodes are not guaranteed "winners" for people just starting out.

Of course, the best thing is how the show builds on itself and evolves as it goes on. It's an extremely impressive and ambitious bit of writing and character development.

That last statement is really the thing that sets Farscape apart. Most shows are content to stick with their premise and tend to make their characters predictable/repetitive. Farscape is very different in that regard.

For my money, it starts to have massive issues in - and throughout - the 4th season. I won't spoil anything, and you might disagree even if you'd already seen it.

Still, the first 3 seasons comprise 66 episodes of excellent story-telling that's emotional, exciting, and full of everything that makes life interesting, complex, and fun - sex, death, love, friends, and leather pants.

I've given up on Babylon 5 for awhile and moved on to Farscape. - 18/03/2011 02:05:19 PM 515 Views
