Props to them for putting this together in the wake of Whitfield's medical issues, but... Arok Manok Send a noteboard - 04/03/2011 04:14:28 AM
I kinda had a problem with one of the big plot angles they used in both GotA and B&S, and that centers on the schemes and machinations of our Dominus and Domina.

After everything that happened with their gladiators-for-sex mistakes, and all their other mistakes, it basically begs the question of whether Battiatus and Lucretia are idiots who don't learn, or if their egos are truly that big that they thought they couldn't be beaten again as they had been before.

Did anyone else watch this 6 part prequal/miniseries? For those of you who don't know, it is on the Starz network. I'm not sure that they had the entire series planned out from the start, but after the lead actor (Sparticus) discovered that he had cancer...and post treatment resurgence...Starz put out this series.

Ultimately, I thought that it was well done. It did manage to be emotionally capturing, considering the fact that I knew how it was to end up. For most of the series (especially the last 2 episodes), I found myself thinking of different plot lines which needed to be bridged to get to the "Season 1" placements. Oddly enough, this didn't take away from the experience, but actually somewhat added to it.

I won't put any spoilers in this, but I was curious as to if anyone else watched this while it was going.

p.s.- What do you (any of you) think of the Camelot series coming out....at like the exact same time as Game of Thrones. Should be interesting to see if they both can survive in basically the exact same genera....just different networks.

By the by, I assume you know they've know recast Spartacus (with Whitfield's blessing after his cancer came back). It's a real shame for him and his family that he's been afflicted, especially right as his career was taking off.

I assume that *spoiler* they plan to bring Gannicus back for additional star power/eye candy .

Also, on Camelot, there're so many On Demand and ITunes options now that I expect both Game and Camelot will be able to survive if they're good enough. If Fringe can continue to survive on Friday on Fox, anything is possible. (I watch both Fringe and Supernatural, which are opposite each other.)
