and that is pretty much all I have as far as opinions go.
That, and the ease with which the Americans slip and call any sexual content "porn" in that sort of controversy. What's "pornographic" about a naked butt and some masturbation or erection jokes? It's innocent partial nudity for one, and harmless sexual content for the other.
I bet the TV show is full of far more harmful scenes of teens eating fast food!
It's hypocritical to associate something like this with "child porn" or pedophilia. In truth, it's just a form of censorship in the name of puritan values. If society at large wishes restrictions on sexual content for their teenagers so be it, but to try to put this under the umbrella of "child porn" and pedophilia instead of calling a cat a cat is just wrongheaded.
Mind you, MTV is just as hypocritical to imply this is a show targeted at adults. It's more like "it's a show for teenagers we make most of our money from, but we market it and broadcast it as a show for adults to try to get away with it, since we know there's really no social consensus on this sort of sexual content for the 15-18 y.o.

I find the idea that a 17-yearold is covered by child porn laws strange

I think 18 is the cut-off for child porn in most places, regardless of the age of consent. *NM*

The British version aired on BBC America. It has the same scene. Nothing happened. *NM*
