It's still banned in Ireland. last year the Irish Film Censor refused to certify the DVD release. I'm not sure how many films have been banned here in the last few years, but I know a lot of the 'video nasties' there were banned in the eighties are now freely available, so this being banned was mentioned in a lot of the newspapers last year.


I had to look around to make sure that people actually knew about it at the time of its creation. That movie was controversial as all get out, and with good reason. I think the only reason I could stand it was because of the eventual revenge, as well as the fact that I saw it in college with a whole bunch of friends, and it was easier to remember that it was just a film.
