Seriously, what about The Last Temptation of Christ? Kids?

Everything about that movie - from the treatment of Judas, to showing JC in a physical relationship - was extremely controversial.
My list, in no particular order, involves movies that I think are controversial, and were controversial in their own time. Here:
-Whichever September 11th movie came out first - or the first movie to have the Twin Towers edited out of the picture.
-Last House on the Left. Brutal, messed up. It didn't matter that it was based on Ingmar Bergman's The Virgin Spring.
-Romance by Catherine Breillat. She hired a porn star to play a male support character, and he actually had sex with an actress during their sex scene. This was for a major French picture.
-Natural Born Killers. For its relentless and crazy violence, along with its attack on the media (while ignoring that the movie itself was part of the media).
-A Clockwork Orange. It actually "inspired" crimes in the UK.
-Life of Brian. Yeah.
-Deep Throat. Of course.
-The Birth of a Nation. The movie apparently suggests that the rosy future will come because of a white-clad Southern Anglo-Saxon Protestant on a horse.
-Kids. Youngin's get naked, do drugs, share sexual risks together. Everything about the project was controversial - including the director just "picking up" people to play the roles, right off the streets of Greenwich Village.
-Basic Instinct. Major american movie actually showed audiences a about as much as they'd see in playboy. Also, the lead was a bi chick who might also murder her lovers for fun.
-Cannibal Holocaust - Another "video nasties" victim - I only know because I listen to BBC film reviews - I've never seen it, but from what I've heard, it has to be on the list. Something about no one being able to find some of the cast - so the producers actually had to prove that the actors weren't murdered for real. Also, actual animals were actually hurt and killed on camera. That's enough controversy to make the list even without having seen it.
-The Last Temptation, as above.
And one I forgot before posting - I Spit on Your Grave. I double-checked, and it wasn't an unknown film - it was very controversial at the time.

I see why people walked out on the 10th movie on the list. Hard watch, but worth it. *NM*
