Most important question is, is the picture filling the entire screen? No "black bars" on the sides or top and bottom during normal programming (during commercials is OK- commercials are often filmed in standard definition, and don't always fill up an HD screen)?
Except for a few very rare cases (sports), this drives me nuts for movies and shows. People are getting broad faces and bodies, it just does not look real. I rather switch to 4:3 or 14:9, which looks better both in quality and proportions. I don't see how that makes me enjoy less HD, I'd even say: more!

If the picture isn't filling the screen, then it's not HD

I can see the wrinkles and nose hairs much more clearly. I am not necessarily keen on HD. TMI. *NM*
