It obviously shows the settings for TV shows, but other than that, what's the point of it?
I think it's supposed to tell us the particular shows set in each state that have the highest overall ratings--probably worldwide, since it lists Baywatch for California.
In the USA SEINFELD got higher ratings and was a phenomenon, but worldwide FRIENDS is way better-known and more famous. If it was worldwide, FRIENDS would definitely get the New York nod.
Also, THE WIRE's ratings were pretty low. I'm sure there's other shows set in Maryland that got higher ratings.

I'm assuming we foreigners should use it as a prejudice map if we ever visit. *NM*

Proof that every state, no matter how out there, has been used as the setting for a show?

That doesn't work with SEINFELD.

I have intentionally and of my own volition watched at least 2 eps of 15 of those shows.

I would have preferred "The Middle" or "Eerie, Indiana" for Indiana. *NM*

I'm going to regret saying this so much, but I'm pretty sure Louisiana ought to get "True Blood."
