I thought 300 was style over substance and that The Watchmen was "okay." Not the worst movies ever, but... meh. SP just doesn't appeal to me, visuals aside. Throw in a bunch of hot college-aged girls, lots of CGI, crazy action scenes and market it to the 18-35 demographic. It might as well be Transformers 3 at that point. 
I'm sure this will be much more arty and have a more culty following, but you get what I'm saying.
