Kripke is still on board as an executive producer, he's just not the show-runner anymore. And he originally had no intentions of doing anything involving angels etc. so I'm not sure what his original plan was but it obviously changed. I have no problem with them extending it past 5 seasons (especially the people doing are have been with the show since the beginning), just as long as they have a new story to tell, which, from early indications, they do not.
Also, creator's wishes don't mean squat in the entertainment world, and that's a good thing.
