Sorry if you all have already heard this, but I find it hilarious. It was actually a few college-aged Caucasian teenagers called The Gregory Brothers that apparently found the interview and gave it the studio mastering treatment, creating "The Bed Intruder Song". I believe one of them is the guy that appears at 1:48 and the piano player later on in the video at the link below.
Anyway, the song is now available on iTunes, which is hilarious since A) he is not an artist nor musically talented by any stretch of the imagination, B) this is more a testament to the talent and humour of the remixers and C) it actually sounds better than most of the hip hop and rap that is currently being released.
Even more hilarious: Hayley Williams of Paramore, Jordan Pundik of New Found Glory, and Ethan Luck of Relient K did a punk rock version, while Dane Cook created a humorous remix.
Anyway, this month, he apparently made enough money off of the iTunes sales to move his family out of the projects and into a better house.
This truly amazes me, because it shows how far the realm of entertainment has evolved over the past generation. Keep this in mind: there are many celebrities and musicians that created or sowed the seeds of the various musical and literary genres we all know from popular culture that ended up dying penniless or never mastered their finances to the point where they could move out of the 'Hood or the projects. Now, being able to act fast, package original content and get it to the market ASAP to capitalize on fleeting popularity can make you a big success.
