I like how they are handling the werewolf angle. When I first figured out werewolves were being introduced last season, I was not very happy about it. Too Twilighty. But I like that they a) made them just look like real wolves (saves on production costs) and b) scarce (so far). I like that they are the natural predator for vampires.
So we have witches, vampires and werewolves. I wonder what else they will introduce over time?

I don't think there will be more. They already have enough mythology to play with. I'm very curious how the Katherine-Elena link will be resolved.
What the research assistant said about doppelgangers - how they are an evil alter ego, and exist to torment the person - got me thinking. Katherine isn't Elena's doppelganger, she's the original. It is Elena who's the alter-ego. That implies that Elena's purpose is to torment Katherine & destroy her life. Ooh, I wonder if there's a prophecy, maybe a link akin to Harry Potter-Voldermort.
Also, Tyler being a werewolf was in the books (although the TV show took a different tack on everything) and it was foreshadowed a long time ago, although in such a blatant way, it was hilarious.
Tyler acting like a jerk. Matt asks, "What's your problem, dude?!" Tyler, "I don't know..." and walks away. Shot of a full moon in the night sky. I turn to my sister and we both say at the same time, "He's a werewolf?" and collapse in laughter.
