Not so much of a review than warning: The expendables.

I went in saying "Jason Statham? Steve Austin? Jet Li? Starring and produced and directed by Sylvester Stallone? This has so many big names how can it not be amazing? Well. It's cause Stallone is an good actor, not a good producer/director. There was a lot of action but the plot was missing some good story telling aspects. Some lines were so ridiculous I ended up laughing at how bad it sounded. And well...black guy with a shotgun and throwing a missile. He was soooo stereotypical.
It was bad. Watch it if you're just looking for a fun, shoot em up movie with the most basic of plots. But don't expect anything thought provoking.

I heard him say he originally had a script that was much more intelligent and story driven...

Except for the whole Mickey Rourke monlogue, which was both amazing AND thought provoking. *NM*

I do wonder why people let this movie off the hook so easily, though.

Because you don't expect these guys to make a thought-provoking or well acted film.
