Xena was pretty bloody & violent later on. Aeryn Send a noteboard - 09/09/2010 05:39:00 PM
I'm excited about the new Nikita and will of course be watching it. But in the a short clip I watched, she wears ridiculously high-heeled shoes to a party and then has to run on them, awkwardly. I understand that a nice party calls for nice shoes, but there is something in between sneakers and 5-inch monstrosities!

Anyway, the article really should have acknowledged Xena. There were other kickass heroines before, but none that were beat up and brutalized as much as her. (At one point, even I thought they crossed the line when they cut off both her arms and showed her twitching torso. Ick. I don't care to see a man or a woman like that.) That's an important frontier - a woman hits, and she's hit back (nothing is sacred... also, Xena's scariest opponents were women), but that's ok, because she's going to hit again, and harder.
