Now that Neb's done with the site updates...(thanks for the new menus!)
Besides the fact that TV is literally at least 1/3 commercials (although it seems a LOT more, doesn't it?), I have been seeing a huge trend that is getting increasingly more on my nerves.
Corporations that use feel-good coffee-shop Indie-guitar/ukulele music in commercials.
AT&T does it (not to mention ripping off Christo). Car commercials use it. Lowe's does it. I've even seen paint stores use it (though in their defense, the paint-chip animation is damn creative). I've even seen more regional craft store in my area make their own Indie diddy to freakish results.
And they're all just terrible. And played over, and over, and over.
Not to mention the fact that Indie music and ukulele music have been big for years before this, and they're just NOW putting these things to use? It just reeks of manipulative corporate advertising. Oh, let's play them some FEEL GOOD music while we take advantage of them!
