But it gets overshadowed by some terrible writing, which cannot be overcome by the actors. "Anakin, you're breaking my heart" is the worst that comes to mind right now.
Because I thought that line worked great and so did Portman's acting. I actually choke up each time I see it. It touches me.
I'll admit that a couple of romance dialogs in the beginning of Ep.3 are horrible, though.
But yeah, different lines appeal to different people, it's probably impossible to write something everyone loves. I love Firefly, but a couple of lines make me shudder in embarrassment, for example.
Mine is Stargate. I love Amanda Tapping, but she was given some truly awful lines there in the beginning.
Like I said, I'm glad the prequels work for some people, and I wish I was one of them. I don't typically pick movies apart and I went into the prequels wanting to like them but there were just lines that killed me. Episode II was worse I think, but just when III started to take off there would be a line that pulled me out of the moment. I try to watch them now and just appreciate the story as my son loves them.
So, we had a Star Wars Marathon last night

The voice can be explained logically, but it still sucks balls. (and not in the good way)

What's wrong is Han shooting first said a lot about his character.
