its kitsch and tongue and cheek style is simply different.

One thing I do like about Torchwood is that nobody is safe from elimination, which adds a sense of mortality and darkness to the show that Dr. Who is almost never able to incorporate.

Yes, it does get a bit worse before it does get better, but I promise you that you will enjoy it. My favorite of all of the seasons is "The Children of Earth", which really isn't a "season" so much as a mini-series.

Dr. Who and Torchwood both have their share of ridiculous moments and awkward corniness, but I like both shows the same.
