but that entertainment can come from movies of many different qualities, so I do end up enjoying movies that aren't considered "good" by critics.
Same here. I go to the movies to be entertained. Some people around here already complained that I let mere popcorn flicks off the hook way too easily in my reviews

Now if you read critics that only like deep dramas, of course most fun movies will get a beating. But a score of 8% at rotten tomatoes is pretty terrifying. Most people there can recognize a fun summer movie when they see one. Phantom Menace has 61% for example

but yah. it may not be worth the cinema ticket to you, but I do think the effects wouldn't be as fun to watch on a small screen.
