To where Blockbuster gets the movie on release day and Netflix has to wait 30 days before they can ship it out. Its one of the few ways Blockbuster is staying in business.
Doesn't make me any happier about waiting for new releases, but Netflix has signed off on all of them to keep growing its online library for streaming older movies.
The studios are trying to sell more movies. Well, I'm not going to buy it because netflix is delayed, when they don't have the same deal at other places.
I'm wondering how far the trend will go and which studios will push for it next.

We do redbox too, but we're way out in the boonies so returning them can be a pain.

That is why they're doing it. Blockbuster had to pay extra to get it on the date of release.
