What more interests me is the endless amount of adulation and praise pixar gets from its movies. They're kids movies. What's the big deal? They, like most movies, are rehashings of things we've seen before, journeys home, journeys to find someone, journeys to find yourself, simple adventures, we've all seen them hundreds of times, but because they're for children, we're able to suspend our criticism and standards. I love pixar and their movies are very enjoyable, but it's not as if they're doing something truly groundbreaking, right? (Aside from the animation technologies of course).
I would wager that most people are giving it such high praises because they have seen the same story rehashed so many times but Pixar makes you enjoy that same old story.
Besides, when was the last time you saw a 100% completely original movie? By that I mean absolutely nothing that has been rehashed from any source.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.
