Good Ep - my thoughts:
- Bill is hanging out with the most flamboyantly gay couple ever written in all of vampire lore (and that's saying something). The blood dishes were hilarious, and the King of Mississippi is just so over the top. When I saw him I was like.... what is this british foxhunter doing here and why hasn't Bill eaten him? I loved how Bill just set his bitch of an ex on fire without even saying hello.
Ah Talbet... I was falling over laughing at his food, but if I were Russel i swear I'd stake him myself.
Bill can't harm Russel he's King of Mississippi, his own Queen would gut him like a fish for making her look bad. Also he's just trying to bribe Bill with power and position.
I wonder about the Lorana scene. I think that's gotta be a fantasy. It can't be very politic to set someone on fire in the King's dining room.
- Sookie is still in mission mode, getting closer to Eric and getting the attention of the weres in the process. We finally saw her (sort of) use her telepathy again.
- Eric used to be a nazi? not surprising, I suppose. It was neat to see Godric again. I didn't think he got nearly enough screentime last season before his retarded suicide (which was one of northman's best scenes, regardless)
Eric and Godric aren't Nazis. A quote from Allan Hyde (Godric): "They're trying to infiltrate the were-community and get to the main man. They're disguised as Nazis so they can walk around without being asked questions." -From HBO http://www.hbo.com/#/true-blood/episodes/3/26-beautifully-broken/interview/allan-hyde
I was excited to see Godric again. I really liked the relationship he and Eric has in season two and it was more emotional than I could have expected to loose him. I'm glad they have chosen to keep the character after his (2nd) death.
- Jessica is just hilarious. And a disaster. I liked how she finally bonded with Pam over the whole "what do I do with a body?" thing... though where her victim is now is a mystery.
Jessica is such a wonderful character. I think that she is the most "real" and understandable new vampire in the entire genre. Totally relatable.
I hope Pam moved the body, but oh I feel like Jessica is in for a rough ride.
- Jason is just being Jason. Getting real drunk and helping out Andy was neat.
I got me a drug dealer! .. Too cute.
I have two book vs. show related complaints. There are some sure spoilers to follow if you are watching without having read the books.
1: That Calvin Norris is a dick when you first meet him. Calvin is a character I really like and I think he (and Hot Shot) are really important to seeing all the side of were/ shifter life. I really hope Calvin doesn't stay the way they showed him in this Ep.
2: Sam's birth. Sam's birth mother tells him that his father was normal and his brother is also a shifter. This cahnges two parts of the Sookie world shifter mythos. First that both parents must be pure-blood shifters to produce a shifter child and that one pure blood couple can only produce one shifter child.
And as I think of it, This change effects the back story of Hot Shot too. The necessary inbreeding in that community and the effect it has on Jason later kid of gets muted by this. Hmmm
You are my audience, always.
Bring him home. Please.
A beer for Nick? Don't mind if I do.
wotmania? Why it's our legendary home where Kory CrazedWeasel and LittleSoul yet roam. It's where I hope, in the end, to return.
