The whole idea of the "reboot" of a franchise was to bring an old comic book idea up to date with the modern world. Some have worked better than others. The thing about Spider Man is that it IS rebooted. It's pretty much run its course. Put it on the shelf for about 20 years and then reboot if you must.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
