When the Doctor found out Amy went from Emelia to Amy, he got upset, that Emelia Pond sounded magical, like a name out of a fairy-tale or something. I didn't really get that vibe - is this just the Doctor being odd, or is there some cultural reference I'm not getting, or what?
Isn't it Aemilia?
Anyway, I get the same connotations from Aemelia, where Amy sounds much more prosaic.
In any event Amelia Pond has a nice Victorian Fairytale ring to it, whereas Amy Pond is a bit, well, yes, prosaic. Pond's a nice name to flick between the two really, a bit of bland word that conjures some pretty nice images.
So many discussions on ponds eh?
