And the worst part of it - the laughableness of the CGI werewolf - was hardly Cuaron's fault.

Actually, in terms of movie making, you could argue PoA was also better than the movies before it, i.e. the best of the series... the approach in the first two movies was more faithful to the books, but not necessarily leading to better movies.
