My subject header said Apocalyptic as well as Post-. I'm familiar with a couple of the titles you mentioned, but not "Sunshine." Is that the full title? I also do not know The Quiet Earth, but will look for it. Children of Men is on my list of movies to watch soon, but I will be avoiding EVER watching Escape from NY, or even its remake, again. BLECH!! LOL
Recent films I liked in this vein: "2012" and "Knowing" (watched the two of them in the last couple days), although there have been others that I liked. These are just off the top of my head.
More like disaster films on a global scale, right?
Maybe you'd like The day after tomorrow? Sunshine? Although that's mostly set in space, just with a global catastrophe around the corner.
Children of men is more dystopic, than actually apocalyptic.
As for Post-apocalyptic, the second and third Mad Max films are fun. Book of Eli was actually pretty good. You certainly know Escape from New York. I am Legend was good for most parts. The Quiet Earth is pretty disconcerting.
If you wanna add a zombie aspect, 28 days later is good.
That's all I can think of right now.

Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
