Need some suggestions. What have you found to be thought provoking and/or entertaining?

This sub-genre has always been one of my favorites when it comes to books, now I am trying to see what is out there in film/tv format.

Recent films I liked in this vein: "2012" and "Knowing" (watched the two of them in the last couple days), although there have been others that I liked. These are just off the top of my head.
