***SPOILERS***

So, in my post yesterday, I discussed how this was the finale of the entire series arc. And it felt like it. There was a lot of talk about endings as if the show was not coming back for another season. So let's hit some key points:

First, let's talk about the emotional scene of Sam taking back control of his body. The show had been building up the importance of family over the course of 5 seasons. Sam and Dean love each other more than anyone else in the world. I thought it was very fitting how it was that relationship that saved them (and the Impala! What a nice touch). The flickering flashbacks of their adventures together, combined with no music but a faint whistling of the wind, was one of the best montages I have seen. Bravo writers, bravo.

Secondly, let's talk about the big reveal. So it appears as though Chuck the Prophet is actually God. It's fitting, if you think about it. He has always given them a nudge but allowed them the free will to do what they had to. But I'm still torn. Has Chuck always been God? Thinking about the past episodes, Chuck didn't seem like he could be God. He was insecure, alcholic, and shy around Becky. Why would God want to date, anyways? And then Chuck's appearance changed. He sat in his chair wearing a nice, clean white shirt and was well-groomed. And then he just...disappeared POOF! If he wasn't God, then what was he? Did he just ascend to heaven as a prophet because his time was done?

Lastly, we had that big twist at the end. I wonder if Sam showing up was added on because they are coming back with another season. Would that have happened if this was truly the series finale? Where do we go for Season 6? I mean, how can you top stopping the friggin apocalypse?? What is Sam now? Does he still have Lucifer inside? Was he a ghost? If he was really there, did God bring him back?

Additional Points:

-Lucifer had a good point. If God created everything, then he created Lucifer to rebel on purpose.

-Bobby's death felt cheapened by getting resurrected so easily. How can death be final if Castiel can just snap his fingers? Where is the tension?

-The history on the Impala was a really nice touch. After spending so much time in her over the last 5 seasons, it was nice to see her get her due

-Loved Dean's entrance into the cemetery

-Jared did a good job as Lucifer

-Still don't get the whole Lisa thing. They really didn't establish much history between her and Dean for him to want to spend his life with her. Kind of feels tacked on.

So any thoughts on the finale?
