He also confirms to Jack that Locke had to be dead for him to take his shape and that he also was Christian back in Season 1. I wonder how he got into Jacob's cabin with Claire later.
MiB appears to have been posing as Jacob in the cabin in Season 3 (the whole, "Help me," thing, which makes far more sense for MiB to be saying than Jacob since Jacob appeared content to stay on the Island). Jacob was never there, as he lived at the big stone foot for the whole time. At some point someone scuffed the ash ring around the cabin allowing MiB in, and he hung out there for a while and did some crazy things. It's worth noting that Jorge Garcia, who plays Hurley, said in his podcast that he was convinced that it was MiB in the cabin, not Jacob.
That makes sense, actually.
The only problem with this is that we saw Christian and someone-posing-as-Jacob simultaneously in the cabin in the Season 4 opener, which I'm scratching my head over.
It's also clear that MiB wasn't Christian in every appearance. He certainly wasn't on the freighter (when Christian appeared to Michael) and he wasn't in LA (when Christian appeared to Jack), so it looks like the 'real' Christian is also still playing a role.
I wondered about it, if it would cover all appearances and if they mentioned this last night so the topic Christian would be off the table, but you're right, apparently it isn't.
Wait, remind me: What situation did Jack see Christian in LA?
I lost track of who knew about Claire and Jack's connection, but island-Claire knows? Hmm, how?
MiB-as-Christian told her. When MiB takes on a form he apparently gains access to the host's memories, and Christian obviously knew he had a daughter.
Ah that's right.
Next week: The candidate.
That's in two weeks. No LOST next week, for some reason
WHAT!? Nooo

I loved Sawyer's description of Lapidus as a guy who stepped off the set of a Burt Reynolds movie. *NM*
