We don't know for sure that we have a doc, but we probably do. Just going off the characters confirmed in death, this appears to be a fairly role-heavy game, and I simply don't think that Isaac would exclude the protective powers.

Without knowing who the darkfriends are, I cannot be certain of what they would assume. At the very least though, we can say that our darkfriends were aware of the possibility.

Sure, and either side may have so. It becomes a game of risk vs reward though. For the darkfriends, if Talic is protected and they try to kill him, they just wasted their first night kill. That's huge. I suspect that they looked at their options, realized that killing Talic was risky, and chose instead to rid themselves of another perceived threat, an influential veteran, you.
