Rules and basic guidance - Edit 1
Before modification by Isaac at 25/03/2010 03:33:06 AM
I will probably be modifying the standard rules and posting them at some point, as I've been meaning to re-format them for some time and I won't have much to do for the next month or so beyond reading posts, however, in the mean time they can bee seen in the entire current form at:
... and yes, those alterations discussed below in that thread are in play concerning Rule 10 and posting NBs.
In the meantime, for our new players, here are the basics you should know, since absorbing all the rules takes a while:
1. Don't edit your messages, if you really messed up something, reply to your own message with 'EBWOP' in the title of the reply... stands for 'Edit By Way of Post'. You will not be modkilled (removed from the game) for editing, we have a three strikes rule on that, since we can always look at the edited message. We have something called 'Tables' which people are allowed to edit, you'll understand them when you see them.
2. Don't 'modquote', you may not cut and paste text from your NBs from me, the mod. You may paraphrase those messages, err on the side of caution when you do, and nothing in those mssages is likely to be something you want to reveal early in the game anyway. Mod quoting will definitely get you modkilled.
3. You can lie through your teeth about anything you want, including your role message or things I've said to you via NB, you can say "Isaac said there are five cops in the game in my role message" if you want to, but this also should be phrased as a paraphrase.
4. Courtesy - people lie in this game routinely, and so people tend to call each other liars, it's not a personal insult, it's just so common people don't think about it. Overall, personal insults, foul language, etc are frowned on.
5. In order to lynch someone you must vote for them, using the format "Vote: Player Name", this needs to be in bold in your messages, but not in your message title, since you can't bold or italicize there. For those who don't know how to do such things, follow these links:
6. This isn't a rule, but general guidance, your role message is sent to you secretly for a reason, so you'd be wise to assume that info in there may not be something you want to spread all over the place.
