General Info from the Moderator - Update 6 - Edit 8

Before modification by Isaac at 04/04/2010 12:45:23 AM

Just keeping this one open so I can insert info right at the top of the page, you can reply to any of my messages in reply to this, as they are sub-topics, and this one will basically be my noteboard, as I don't like to repeatedly edit and alter the main thread. I will probably include an 'Update: #' in the title for future edits, i.e..

Update 1: 24 Mar, 2010 - game play begins

Update 2: 25 Mar - Realized I have misspelled Saldaea as 'saladea' in virtually every usage of it, nothing should be inferred from this other than poor spelling. Incidentally, I did make up Tem Lurin for this game, what with murder mysteries usually needing a murder victim and all, it would, of course, have been inappropriate of me to kill off Muad Cheade, who I did not make up.

Update 3: 28 Mar - Yes, everyone received that NB with the same 'note from mod' comment at the bottom, most of your received all of that info with your original messages, but quite a few might have been missing one piece or whatever and it seemed inappropriate not to send to everyone, even if they already had all that.

Update 4: 28 Mar - By the way, before anyone wastes time speculating, yes I am entirely willing to have Aes Sedai have access to Mask of mirrors to obscure gender or appearance, canon or not, leave around a ter'angreal that does the same, or even write someone up as a transvestite. I imagine most of the senior players can testify to this and anticipate it, but now you know. Player gender, role gender, and apparent role gender do not necessarily have to be consistent.

Update 5: 29 Mar - Have opened 'Inactivity Tracker' thread, for RBIRL and inactives, as well as the formal vote count. Please be aware all of you received NBs today.

Update 6: 30 Mar - A quick comment on modkills and subbing. So far in the 16 games we've never had to modkill anyone for rules violations and I hope it stays that way, however inactivity modkills arise on average about once every game or two. They're not very pleasant as a moderator to do, especially on players who have been playing for a while, but that's the breaks, the mods first priority has to be to keep the game rolling. In most cases, barring new players who simply don't like the game having tried it, it is because someone became very busy or something came up, so let's keep in mind that things happen and this is just a game, and we should give them the benefit of the doubt, but on that same note, it is just a game so getting bumped for inactivity isn't really a big deal either. Wherever possible, I prefer to substitute as even in relatively large games the loss of one player can be viewed as slanting the game in favor of whichever faction(s) they were not a member of through no particular mistake or tactical maneuver of anyone else.
