Except if the vampires are killing each other - and I said almost assuredly because that's possible but doesn't seem like the most likely conclusion - then we still know that the vampires aren't the scum faction because that inherently proves that the vampires aren't working together.

No it's not. Stephen having a lynch is, but again, there is evidence of vampires being the victims of the scum faction, which is not the case for the Hippos. All of which is irrelevant to your case in particular, because your scumminess is gameplay related, not lore- or faction-related.

The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
