Every townie should be fighting off the Hippos, assuming the Hippos are the scum of this game?

I am wondering about that as well. Perhaps it is a red herring? I'm still confused about who we're actually supposed to be fighting. But that does seem like a very Discworld-esque dilemma, doesn't it?

Summarizing the evidence we have so far:

  • 1 dead Dwarf with a Hippo branded on him (Pre-game)
  • 1 building demolished by a mob with a battering ram (Pre-game)
  • 1 C.J. Bailey (probably dwarf from Klatch), killed with a sack of marbles; his belongings at the time of death included a Hippo pamphlet and some Yeti hair (according to wiki, Yeti are a type of mountain troll that are hunted for their feet; Yeti have some ability to manipulate time and revive after dying). (Day 1 Event)
  • 1 drunk zombie demanding brains (Night 1 and Dawn Day 2)
  • 1 Black Ribboner vampire photojournalist (Yunalesca, Day 1-2)
  • 1 Klatchian Curry shop attacked by Ankh-Morpork "nationalists" wielding/throwing Scones. We have the option of hiding, fleeing, or fighting the Dwarves or Hippos. (Day 2 Event)

Feel free to add any other evidence I forgot or anything else you might know.

From what I listed, I can conclude the the Hippos have some sort of connection to the Dwarves, mostly likely an antagonistic relationship. Although CJ Bailey had a Hippo pamphlet on him, I think it was not a question of him being a member, but rather a way for the Hippos to take credit for the kill (just like with the branding of the Dwarf the killed earlier. Now, from just those two examples, it would be difficult to rule out a possibility that someone is using the Hippo organization as a cover for committing these murders. But with the Event today, I'm leaning towards them being a real faction that's at odds with the Dwarves.

Question is, whose side should we be on? Although the Hippo league is committing murders, is that necessarily bad? Are they really the bad guys? In the normal mafia game, even the town has to murder people to win. I don't know if the Hippo League or Dwarves are considered an evil faction in the Discworld.

So guys, are either of these factions really evil? Who should we fight, if any?

FYI, I already submitted my choice, and I'm not sure I'm allowed to change it. I don't want to say what I did yet, in case that might influence your response or your actions.
