What do you Need to Know about StarCraft? Fanatic-Templar Send a noteboard - 10/01/2013 03:17:01 AM
Nothing. The setting is only used to add flavour to the game, and this setting was specifically chosen by the moderator because of his knowledge of its lore. Knowledge of the setting may make the game more entertaining, but it will not help the player make better decisions, as the game will not follow the game’s canon (for example, the Rebellion of Korhal, one of the possible Crises in the game, will have its planetary origin randomised so that locations on Korhal IV are not a predictable liability).

This game takes place before the start of the first instalment of the series, after the Guild Wars have ended, among the Old Families of the Confederacy of Man, the most powerful human civilisation in the Koprulu Sector. For those who are interested, a brief introduction to the Confederacy and the other Terran powers of the Sector has been included.

Finally, the StarCraft series is billed as a conflict between three interstellar races. The other two races, the Protoss and the Zerg will no doubt eventually show up in the Crises, but they do not play a part in the early stages of this game.
The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
