I'm not sure I see a point in coding the accusations... I think I may have a Plan F though
Isaac Send a noteboard - 22/10/2011 07:34:05 PM
And everyone should have brought up any reasonable suspicions they have on people, and realistically probably don't have any, so we're basically asking people to make something up... if we do the accusations secretly so they're effectively simultaneous not only will we burn a fair amount of time but I'd speculate the lion's share of them will either take a crack at ?, since he did do something anti-town or they'll pick the other obvious one of Yuna's partial list 'being Isaac' to comply with Plan E, besides that not being particularly fruitful I don't like the option of being the default lynchee should I be the target of the majority of accusations... I also don't understand the resistance to coding RCs consider you're endorsing coding accusations... unless we're worried about the scum cracking the codes there's no disadvantage to coding our roles at this time, only decoding them holds a risk, and if we're simply worried someone will use a Vigenere code cracking applet (which exist) that can be dealt with simply by people slightly modifying their code, or running there first encryption through again with a second key, or picking a random poetic verse to add to their real text as code, etc, etc. so that there's no realistic risk of someone cracking them even assuming someone tries which to be honest I doubt anyone would especially if they expect people to be making that extra effort.
Now, I don't mind if we play the accusation game, but frankly I think we ought to just be about, and with the holidays approaching I think a combination of Secret Santa and Trick or Treat, minus the anonymity aspect though that was rather tempting as an addition on your original coded accusation concept. We randomly assign each person 1 person other than themselves, and they most present a reasonable plausible accusation on them or going into our 'lynch pool', trailed anyone of course for whom we feel the reasonable plausible accusation is actually lynchworthy. This way, everyone has to make an accusation or risk getting lynched, people will have their target selected and thus have incentive to scour that person's posts, possibly missing things the rest of us overlooked, and as an added benefit it's good practice at hunting down evidence or fabricating it to frame people which makes games more exciting anyway. I don't know that we necessarily need an exact order of precedence for how we might lynch people including poor prosecutors but failing to make a good effort would be legitimately anti-town.
So there's my "Plan F":
1) Everyone codes their role... please write down or email yourself or NB yourself or Mod with your key and decode method so you don't forget it as it is likely to be a while before you use it.
2) Everyone randomly gets selected one person they must try to build a case on over, say, 72 hours maximum, on penalty of possible lynch for.
3) Random list to be generated using the player roster on the Day 1 Intro by simply adding the seconds digit to their position going down, off say the fifth person to reply to this message agreeing to do it, as that would represent a majority, e.g. Kronin who is at the top of the list, if the time stamp was your message's or a 6, would have to go after Hieshyn, who would have to after ?, who would have to after me, who would have to go after you, etc, in event of a 0 we'd use the tens second digit.
So, how do people feel about this plan? In my opinion it actually gives us a decent chance of finding real info, and barring that a decent list of anti-town stuff we can rationalizing lynching someone off of.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
