My own... - Edit 1

1) Have you read any of the series yet? If so how far a long and what do you think of it?
Unsurprisingly yes, I'm quite fond of the series and do recommend it to everyone here, which is a rarity since a lot of series are good-bad-great depending on the reader and I tend to tailor my book recommendations to the individual and offer them rarely. I think everyone in our circle here would enjoy it.
2) How do you like the duels?
I liked them conceptually, I think in a larger game they would be too limiting, and that here they appear a touch skewed since they all ended in the lynchee's death accept beet, at the very end, who is having a very strong run. Concept probably needs to be retired or seriously modified and my feeling form the group is that we'll be doing the former not the latter, but it was an interesting idea and I'm glad we gave it a try. I think the most obvious useful form might be to retain it for day 1 situations where we tend to bog down by allowing two people to duel to the death instead of just one.
3) How do you like the RPS conversion to roles?
Opinion seems mixed on this as well if more favorable than the duels, I like it, it is a bit harder to mod but I do feel it allows more roles with less impact, especially mated to attributes, and I did like the giving people the option to at least partially design their own character. In that respect, same as I liked the random character assignments. Probably needs a little modification but I do feel it worked well enough for a trial run and added some zest. The duels were kind of meant to offset the RPS roles, but I don't think that they need any offset.
4) How do like the contests?
The contests were fun, a bit tiring to make and run of course since I had to prep them in at least skeleton form pre-game or risk running being influenced by the state of the game. I enjoyed the effective- google-a-thon though, as with the others, I feel they in conjunction with those others, added to the game but may have been a bit much. Some players got more into them then others. I think I would recommend them to other mods with the obvious caveat that the contests have to serve some sort of purpose and that has to be dealt with carefully, one shot RPS items worked fine but I don't think one-shot items, unless there were few contests and/or few roles, would work minus the weakened role power of the RPS system or something similar
Anyway, that's my take, doubtless we can continue chatting about it post-game... whenever that occurs
