The townspeople had hardly been gathered for any time at all when an extraordinarily confident accusation comes forward, putting nearly all debate to a swift end.
“Yeah, it was definitely that guy.” the woman said, pointing at an angry figure standing near the back of the crowd. Everyone turns to look at Foster Raven, who shifts uncomfortably but doesn’t say anything. His aunt is nowhere to be seen today, presumably too traumatized by the death of her other nephew to leave the house. “He’s the one you want.”
“Are you sure?” some one asks.
The woman, who is dressed as plainly as any country folk, nods authoritatively. “I am positive. Who will you believe, if not me?”
You consider this. She makes a compelling argument, and after all, who was it that Bert was always following around? His older brother Foster, of course. The smart one. The sane one … it was the obvious choice. The only choice.
“You can’t kill me!” Foster shouts, more than a little hysteria in his voice. “You need me too much! This town would be nothing without me! NOTHING!”
One of the town’s weathered and beaten farmers takes a step toward the young man, pitchfork extended. “You’d best come quietly, son,” he says. Unfortunately, this suggestion is not very appealing to Mr. Raven.
“FOOLS!” He bellows, raising his fist to the sky. “YOU DARE DEFY ME? I’LL KILL YOU ALL – “ His melodramatic posturing is cut off by a blow from behind by a cudgel, and he drops like a lead balloon.
“If there’s one thing I can’t stand,” the man with the club mutters, “It’s insane ranting.”
“Right then!” The Mayor says brightly. “Let’s finish this up and get on with the day, shall we?”
“Why stop now?” a disheveled looking man asks, stroking his beard thoughtfully. “We could certainly find the rest of the so-called Mafia today if we just keep looking …”
“Some of us have WORK to do!” The farmer shouts, waving his pitchfork. “I don’t have time play games all day!”
The Mayor nods. “Of course, of course,” she says, a bit exasperated. “We’re all very busy people, what with serial-killing murders interrupting our affairs. Now, could someone please fetch the rope?”
Fox and Ravens has been Lynched, ending Day 2.
Now, I have two exams on Tuesday, so I don’t think Day 3 will likely begin until Tuesday evening. It might start earlier if everyone gets their Night actions in sooner and I get a chance to deal with it. I’ll try my best, but we’ll see. So for now, if everyone could shoot to have their stuff in by Monday February 28th, 11:59 pm EST?
Thanks for your patience.
