I have a suspicion the quick little links to factions I gave everyone didn't work, I will stick them in individually to the Factions Appendix some time tonight or tomorrow, in the meantime.
House Major list, Dune wikia most of the factions are right there, for the non-house factions just paste your faction name in the search box. Again, knowledge isn't necessary but probably makes the game more enjoyable.
A note on changing factions. The rules actually allow this, you can resign your faction if you just loathe the one you got, once the game starts this would require a normal resignation and a delay, currently we still have a few days before we start so if you want to jump factions pre-game best to get those in before New Years. Let it be noted though that you can't use this to jump ship on bad rolls, I will force rolls to lower values than you previously got on your new faction, still random but not better. This is not to encourage changing factions, I'd rather people didn't since it takes about 10 minutes to spew out a faction sheet for someone, but fundamentally this is your character sheet, this really is an RPG, I've just stripped out anything I thought could cause delays and bog down and borrowed heavily from collectible card games and mafia and coin game, but its still a RPG and there's no reason to forbid it either. I don't want someone to feel obliged to play a faction they just can't get into at all, if you really don't like your faction, I'd rather you changed it. If you change your forbidden from discussing your previous faction and your basically stuck with your new one, but knowing that no one who reg'd before you switched has your old faction just isn't a big enough de-balance to worry about, as time permits I'll probably expand the faction list in chunks of 6 until I feel there's no more decent dune house names to use, so it's a minor effect.
Some time in the next day or so I'll post, in this thread, an 'example' of the various crisis, forecasts, auctions, etc. It won't really be an example, since it will be the real round 1 stuff, or most of it, enough for good demonstration, and then I'll just paste it over to the new thread when the game starts.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
