View original postOne of the things all of us here can probably agree on is that the first month and a half or so of Donald Trump’s return to office has not been boring.
Very true.
View original post1. Do you want the USA to continue on as a member of NATO?
I don't see how it matters what anyone outside the US answers to that. Certainly the Trump administration seems intent on alienating all of its allies, whether in NATO or outside it, as much as possible - so the more immediate question is probably about where the US itself will end up two years from now, or five, or ten. There seems to be a very wide range of possible outcomes here - from Trump getting a grip and returning to some semblance of normalcy more like his first term, over him being impeached or 25th-amendment-ed (or just dying), to a full-blown constitutional crisis and the end of American democracy as we know it.

View original post2. Is this a development you support or find acceptable?
Considering the above, Germany having nukes seems far less concerning than a civil war or a dictatorship in the US with nukes. Plus, you know, there have been nukes sitting in various European countries including my own and I suppose also Germany for decades - the only difference would be the colour of uniform of the soldiers firing them in case of war.
View original post3. Are there any other countries you’d support or accept as becoming nuclear powers? And if so, which ones?
If you want me to start listing countries that can be trusted more with nukes than the Trump administration, we're going to be here a while. Obviously I have more faith in the US military than in its current government, but since they've already been trying to replace Pentagon leadership and the Republicans in Congress have proven even more spineless than my already very low expectations, I don't know if that will remain the case over the months and years to come. And Tom's reply above about how he would nuke Germany and Poland didn't exactly help matters either.

In both of those cases, though, at least you provided support to the defender in a war.

Some of this is fair enough - some, not so much. And the ending is... um. Novel?

Ok, I can answer also from a wider long term perspective.

The fact that this is a serious topic of conversation these days is frightening.
