I remember a teacher of mine in the 80's talking about how the cashiers couldn't make change properly when the power went out at a fast food restaurant she frequented. You can't be the judge of a generation on the skillsets of cashiers.

That being said, everything I see does make me question the general competence of our current young folk. So, maybe taken in whole we can make a case, but you can't just rely on the cashier index!
