At least visually. And definitely showing things from the book that were not shown on network TV 40 years ago. Hope this does well enough for Taipan to be adapted.
I'm definitely interested. But I have two concerns.
First, ever since GOT, it seems every adaptation has to be filmed in dim light and darkness. Are there ever bright, sunny days and buildings with adequate interior lighting?
Second, I hope the focus on battle scenes in the trailer is a red herring. Toranaga's genius in the book was on avoiding conflict with Ishido until all the details had been worked out in his favor. The climactic battle is a couple of paragraphs at the very end of the book. Hopefully the combat depicted in the trailer is the many smaller fights that occur.
