It would have been something of an equalizer on the field of terror.

Because as soon as this happened again we started to hear that word again... Proportionality.

One could argue that if proportionality means comparative death toll, well, the death toll should be summed in the end, no ?

But the true proportionality of war is fought on the psyche. And on that field the Palestinians always win because they bring terror Israel never can.
An example I like to use: In my life I had to go through several cycles of violence. Here I compare the "Suicide bombings phase" to the "dumb inexpensive rockets" phase.
I can assure you many more people were murdered by suicide bombings, but rockets are a much more devastating weapon. With suicide bombers, if you avoid crowded places, don't use public transportation, you are mostly safe. And more importantly, you don't have to be afraid when you lie down in bed. But rockets can get you anywhere anytime. Statistically they won't, but you can't relax even when taking a dump.

Now "critical theory" academia have somehow engineered the world to view the Palestinian regular folk as a separate entity from Hamas, as if they hadn't voted for Hamas in the last free election. (BTW, Lebanon is also gets to coast by as separate from Hezbollah).
And as part of this gift is they get to be warned to leave the northern part of the strip and can go south. Sure they are super crowded but mostly peaceful Now Israel is even pushed by the polite world to allow humanitarian aid to reach them even as Hamas holds some 200 abducted people. Some 30 children among them.

BTW, it turns out we in Israel were lucky. Hezbollah could have breached the northern border at the same time with 10000 commandos, veterans of the Syrian war. It could have taken months to push them back.
In all probability the Iranians didn't want them to because they suspected it might trigger a world war. That is the one scenario they lose.

My reality has burst like a stock market bubble. Two weeks ago I was following the Champions League, focused on my job, learning guitar. Now everything seems pointless, paper thin.
My girls are 4.5 and 3 and unaware of what's going on. They get to watch Bluey and Paw Patrol all day because school is out.
But now I lie in bed and I know, I KNOW, someday those barbarians will kill my two little girls. And if it takes long enough and they grow up, will probably rape them too.

But the good news is we have nuclear armed subs in the Persian gulf, so hopefully we get to rid the world of the ayatollahs on the way out.

I think I'm having a mental breakdown. Seriously.
