Three contractors are requested to submit bids to repair a damaged section of the White House fence.
The first contractor takes careful measurements, does some calculations on his tablet, and says,
“I can do this for $3,500. $1,400 for materials, $1,500 to pay my crew, and $600 for me.”
The second contractor takes his measurements and then after calculations says, “I can do the job for $3,000 - $1,300 for materials, $1,300 hundred for labor and $400 for me.”
The third contractor immediately quotes, $5,000.
The White House official takes him aside and says, “how do you justify that?”
He replies, “A grand for you, a grand for me and we hire contractor 2 to do the work.”
Who do you suppose wins the contract?
