Is this show graphically showing what happens to Egwene doing the viewers a disservice compared to what RJ did where he has Egwene narrating to Min what was done to her. In the books Min is captured along with Egwene, but because she is not a channeler she is allowed to come and go. So we have someone Egwene can talk to that we know is a friend. Here we have no one for Egwene to talk to.
I wonder if this is still the Game of Thrones/Grim Dark effect that Rafe & Co. expect viewers to want and to see such graphic depictions of torture in 2023 as compared to what RJ thought readers expected in 1990. I really would rather have had it done offscreen.
And even though I don't think Rafe & Co think this, but you are right that Min is a darkfriend. She made a deal with the Dark One (Ishamael). She doesn't know he is a Forsaken. Or shouldn't at least. She so hates her ability to view the pattern that she made a deal with the Dark One to get rid of it. And what is this deal? Something that the Dark One wants. She sold her soul. Viewers may not realize this the way the book readers do. And I am quite sure Rafe, the Dark One in this First Age of ours, does not see it this way. But at this point I really have to wonder if Min survives long enough to be either Mat's Darkfriend girlfriend or survives at all.
As an aside, everything with Lan, Alana, and Rafe's boyfriend remains irrelevant to this show and could have been excised. Everything to do with Moiraine remains irrelevant. Bye girl bye.
