View original postI'm ambivalent on this. On the one hand, I think our public schools could benefit from a little competition. But not if all it results in is the public schools being left with those students most difficult to educate.
The competition in Sweden is not about quality of education, but rather what grades the kids receive, or what perks (what kind of computer the kids get). For clarification, grades are fairly arbitrary unless you link them to externally controlled and graded high stake testing, which comes with its own set of problems.
Also, a lot of school resources go towards marketing instead of education, which is somewhat problematic.
